PURPLE BELLS or PURPLE BELL VINE
Rhodochiton atrosanguineum is rare and is one of the most sought-after climbing plants. Deep purple almost black flared tubular flowers with deep pink carollas hang amongst the heart-shaped leaves. This is an exceptional climber for a protected position and will flower continuously for months.
The flowers hang from thread like stems making it perfect for hanging baskets. In the garden it will climb on vertical strings, wires or string trellises.
Purple Bells prefers afternoon shade in most well drained moisture retentive soils and a frost free position.
It grows to approximately 2 metres.
