POSOQUERIA LONGIFLORA
NEEDLE FLOWER SHRUB
Posoqueria longiflora is a native of Brazil & neighbouring countries of South America and is a member of the Rubiaceae.
The Needle Flower shrub is a small shrub with large glossy dark green leaves and long cascading creamy flowers that are beautifully fragrant. It is said that the flowers are pollinated by the hawkmoth that has a long proboscis
It is a tropical rainforest shrub, it enjoys humid air and can stand both full sun or filtered light. Blooms most of the year, filling air around with sweet gardenia-like fragrance.
It is interesting to note that in its native habitat the Aymara (a species of fish) eat the fruit of this plant.
Acid soil is preferable but equally we have had our plant in a large ceramic pot for years.
THIS IS RARE BUT TOUGH FRAGRANT SHRUB!
