IOCHROMA cv. WARSCEWICZIA
Iochroma warscewiczia is a member of the Solanaceae family and is native to South America.
The flowers are light purple – mauve, tubular and hang in large clusters. It flowers spring, summer through to autumn and spot flowers at other times.
The foliage is evergreen, soft and feels like felt and the shrub can grow to 3 metres x 3 metres wide.
It is best grown in full sun but will take a small amount of shade. It can be pruned hard at any time and is best done to maintain bushiness.
It will take a light frost but will reshoot if frost affected, it may need some extra water in the hotter months for best effect.
Care needs to be taken as it is poisonous being in the Brugmansia family.
