Hibiscus geranioides is a member of the Malvaceae family and is a native of Australia.
The flowers on this native Hibiscus are deep pink with a deeper pink throat. It grows to 1 metre x 1 metre wide and appear in summer and autumn. It is said that both the flower and the foliage are edible.
It can be grown readily in most gardens and is reported to tolerate a range of soils but needs good drainage. Plant in full sun for best results but will tolerate very light shade. It will also tolerate light frost, and the flowering responds well to showers of rain.
