Description
MUCUNA BENNETTII
FLAME OF THE FOREST
Mucuna benettii is a member of the Fabaceae family and is a native of Papua New Guinea.
This beautiful vine has long cascading clusters of brilliant red flowers held together to form a 1 metre long raceme of splendour. It’s much rarer than its cousin (green jade vine) but is very popular in gardens that accommodate this vine. It flourishes in tropical to semi tropical regions as well.
It is a very large, woody climber. Vivid scarlet or flame coloured, in a long inflorence. Can be used to climb a large tree or a very large pergola. A magnificent vine, one you will never forget once you have seen it! Just remember, it does need room to spread.
It is much more cold hardy than Green Jade Vine (Strongylodon). It will grow well in full sun to partial shade. It is evergreen and flowers in winter.
ENJOY THIS RARE, BEAUTIFUL VINE!
