Description
DOMBEYA BURGESSIAE ALBA
TROPICAL SNOWBALL
Dombeya burgessiae alba is native to South Africa and Madagascar and is a member of the Sterculiaceae family.
Most Dombeya are generally considered a rare plant, and it should be. Known as the tropical hydrangea or tropical snowball, the genus contains a few hundred species of plants.
This Dombeya grows to around 3metres x 4metres wide and has pure white flowers in large panicles. It flowers over a long period with flowers that are approximately 75 – 100 mm diameter in profusion.
This shrub will enjoy most soil types but prefers well drained moisture retentive soil. When planting dig the hole twice the size of the pot and plant level with the surrounding soil. Water in well. Prune after flowering and this will produce more flowers the following season. Fertilise after pruning and mulch well to conserve water.
ENJOY THIS RARE SHRUB!
