YELLOW BELL
Allamanda cathartica laevis is native to South and Central America and is a member of the Apocynaceae family.It grows to around 2.5 metres with golden yellow trumpet shaped flowers that are lightly scented. The plant is evergreen.Yellow Bell flowers profusely in sunny spot it does not like to be in shade or alkaline soil. The flowers are 125mm funnel shaped, narrowing to a slender tube, five petaled and golden yellow in clusters of three to six and appear from November it is also the official flower of Sarawak, Malaysia.
It prefers a frost free position and is drought tender.
It is sometimes used as an emetic and a purgative.
Prune after flowering or in spring when new growth appears.
